Искорское городище

Iskorskoye is an archaeological site situated on elevated ground near Iskor village in Perm Krai with layers of settlement remains spanning many periods. Excavations here uncovered metal objects, jewelry, weapons, and ritual artifacts that reveal details about the people who lived and worshipped at this location.

The site originated in ancient times as an open religious sanctuary rather than a fortified settlement, contrary to earlier assumptions. Modern excavations in the early 2000s revealed its true purpose and provided evidence of ceremonial activities spanning multiple centuries.

This place served as a spiritual center where people brought offerings and gathered for religious purposes over many centuries. Visitors can sense its role as a meeting point where different groups came to honor their beliefs.

The site sits on a hillside in the northeastern area near the village and can be reached by local paths that are accessible from multiple directions. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes because the ground is uneven and conditions vary depending on the season.

Among the artifacts discovered, one piece stands out as particularly precious: an ornate key inlaid with gold and silver. This object is remarkably valuable and suggests that people of considerable status came to worship at this sanctuary.
