Кузнецкий мост, Stone bridge in Novokuznetsk, Russia.
Kuznetsk Bridge is a stone structure in Novokuznetsk that spans a waterway with multiple arches, allowing water to flow freely underneath. The solid construction supports both vehicle traffic and pedestrian crossing from one side of the city to the other.
Construction began in 1817 and finished in 1819, making it one of the first stone bridges built in the Siberian region. This early project showed the region's growing capability to undertake major infrastructure work.
The bridge has served as a daily meeting point for residents crossing between different neighborhoods over many generations. People walk and drive across it every day, making it a natural gathering space in the city's movement and rhythm.
The bridge is easy to reach on foot and accommodates both vehicles and walkers, so you can choose your preferred route. During winter, the surface can become slippery, so take care with your footing.
In 2002 the structure underwent major modernization, with support systems and the deck surface rebuilt. Despite these updates, the bridge retained its original appearance and silhouette that has been recognized for two centuries.
