Matveevsky garden

The Matveevsky garden is a green space featuring mature trees and walking paths located next to Saint Matthew's Church in the Petrogradsky District. The area includes scattered benches positioned along different routes through the trees.

The garden emerged during the construction of Saint Matthew's Church in the 18th century and became established as part of the neighborhood's development. Its original layout with mature trees from that era has remained largely unchanged.

The garden serves as a meeting place where local residents gather throughout the day, sitting on benches and walking under the shade of mature trees. Its role in neighborhood life reflects how such spaces provide a setting for daily social interaction and connection.

The garden can be entered from Bolshaia Pushkarskaya Street or Matveevsky Lane, with both access points being straightforward to locate. Knowing that multiple entrances exist helps you choose which part of the garden you want to explore first.

Many of the trees here were planted when the district was still rural, with some reaching over 150 years old. This collection of ancient trees creates a feeling quite different from more modern urban parks.
