Black Dolphin Prison

Black Dolphin Prison is a maximum-security facility in Sol-Iletsk that houses approximately 700 inmates serving life sentences. The complex is secured by multiple steel compartment doors and operates under constant surveillance throughout the site.

The facility began in 1745 as a labor camp and was rebuilt in 1773 after the Pugachev Rebellion ended. This restructuring transformed it into a permanent correctional complex.

A sculpture of a dolphin created by inmates stands at the entrance, giving the prison its current name among the Russian population.

The facility remains an active prison and is not open to public visitation under normal circumstances. Information about any authorized visits should be obtained from local authorities or official channels.
