Щербинское городище, Archaeological settlement in Domodedovo, Russia
Shcherbinsky settlement occupies the right bank of the Pakhra River and preserves remains of fortifications and ditches from ancient times. The site contains cultural layers reaching about 3 meters deep with thousands of archaeological objects from different periods.
The settlement dates to the 6th century BCE and belongs to the Dyakovo culture of the Iron Age. Excavations documented how the community developed and changed over several centuries.
The settlement shows how early inhabitants lived and worked with their surroundings. Pottery, jewelry, and animal remains reveal farming practices and skilled craftsmanship from that period.
The location is difficult to access and requires local guidance for proper orientation. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and prepare for uneven ground conditions.
A treasure discovered in 1964 contained over 100 items from the 2nd to 3rd century, including glass beads and bronze ornaments. This find reveals that the region had trade connections to distant areas.
