Church of the Theotokos of Kazan

The Church of the Theotokos of Kazan is an Orthodox temple in Saint Petersburg located along Nevsky Prospekt. It features an impressive colonnade with 96 columns arranged in a semicircular formation that stretches along the front of the building, giving it its distinctive appearance.

The temple served as a storage location for military trophies from the 1812 campaign against Napoleon, including keys from conquered European cities. After this conflict, it became an important monument celebrating Russia's military victory and national pride.
