Säter Municipality

Säter Municipality extends across 624 square kilometers of central Swedish terrain, encompassing forests, lakes, and the notable Säter Valley with its Ljuster stream.

The municipality gained its current structure in 1971 through the merger of Säter City and two adjacent municipalities, building upon its 1642 royal charter.

The municipality contains the Old Church of Stora Skedvi from the 13th century and multiple preserved wooden buildings that reflect traditional Swedish architecture.

The municipal area maintains strong transportation connections through the Dala Railway line, linking residents to Stockholm, Falun, and Mora via regular train services.

The Östra Silvberg Mining Area within the municipality holds records of silver extraction dating to 1480, while Bispbergs mine operated for 600 years until 1967.
