Parliament House of Sweden, Parliament building in Helgeandsholmen, Stockholm, Sweden.

The structure occupies half of Helgeandsholmen island and displays Neoclassical architecture with Baroque Revival elements on its main waterfront facade. The symmetrical complex includes a central chamber hall, numerous committee rooms, and a library beneath a distinctive copper-clad dome roof.

Architect Aron Johansson designed the structure, with construction spanning 1897 to 1905 and marking the relocation of parliament from Riddarholmen. Following several expansions between 1930 and 1983, the complex gained additional office spaces and modern facilities to support parliamentary operations.

The Swedish Riksdag houses 349 members of the unicameral legislature, which has exercised legislative authority since 1971 and makes key democratic decisions for the kingdom. The facilities also serve as venue for the Right Livelihood Award, honoring alternative solutions to global challenges.

Guided tours through the facility provide visitors with insights into Swedish democracy and access to chambers and committee areas. The location between Gamla Stan and Norrmalm is accessible by foot via several bridges, with metro stations nearby.

Foundation work required more than 9000 oak piles to stabilize the structure in the island's soft ground. Interior spaces feature materials from Swedish quarries, including granite from Bohuslän and marble from Kolmården, representing regional craftsmanship.
