Johannisberg, Djurgården, Summer villa in Djurgården, Sweden
Johannisberg is a summer villa complex in Djurgarden featuring a main building with expansive glass verandas and a separate summer salon positioned on the southern slope of Eolskulle. The ensemble includes multiple interconnected structures designed to function as one integrated property.
Inspector Johan Trotzig received permission to build on the site in 1808, and the main residence was completed by 1810. Additional structures were constructed afterward, gradually expanding the property.
The summer salon served residents of Blockhusudden as a place for spiritual gatherings when the Salomon family owned the property. The interior spaces reflect how a prosperous household used different rooms for both daily life and special occasions.
The property is located at Blockhusringen 30 and is accessible via public transportation including trams and boats to Djurgarden. Visitors should expect occasional access restrictions since the site is a protected monument.
The entrance hall of the main building features a large mural created through a collaborative effort by artists Axel Torneman and Isaac Grunewald. This artwork represents a rare example of such artistic partnership in a private summer residence.
