Stora Blecktornet, Historical building in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden.

Stora Blecktornet is a stone building in Södermalm with two distinctive towers that rise prominently on a hillside. The structure combines an original octagonal form with later additions, creating a notable outline in the neighborhood.

The building was constructed in 1856 under architect Vilhelm Diurberg's direction, beginning as a simple octagonal tower. It was later transformed and expanded into a winterized stone residence.

The building housed the notable architect Ferdinand Boberg and his wife Anna from 1930 to 1935, who created an art studio in the north tower. This workspace reflects the creative work that took place within this residence.

The building is typically open on Wednesdays between 18:00 and 21:00, with the entrance near Södermannagatan street. It is helpful to check opening times beforehand, as they may vary seasonally.

The name comes from an old bleaching house connected to the Barnängen textile factory that once operated nearby. This industrial past lives on only in the building's name, as the surrounding area has transformed entirely.
