Folksamhuset, Modernist office skyscraper in Södermalm, Sweden

Folksamhuset is a modernist office tower in Södermalm with 28 floors rising about 79 meters. Its exterior walls are covered in light grey marble slabs that give the structure a clean, simple appearance.

Architects Yngve Tegnér and Nils Einar Eriksson finished this insurance headquarters in 1959 during Stockholm's post-war rebuilding phase. The project marks Sweden's shift toward modern office buildings in that era.

The building stands as a key landmark in the southern part of the city and shows how Stockholm transformed into a modern business hub during the 1950s. Its simple vertical form shaped how people see this neighborhood and its role in the city's growth.

The building sits near Skanstull and connects to several bridges including Skansbron and Skanstullsbron, making it easy to reach from different directions. Visitors can walk around the area and explore the surroundings on foot.

A green terrace at the base of the building creates an unexpected transition between the tall tower and the street level below. This planted area softens the massive form and adds a touch of nature to an otherwise austere structure.
