Orion Theatre

Orion Theatre is a performance space housed in a former mechanical workshop in Södermalm, equipped with advanced stage technology and adaptable seating. The venue can be reconfigured to suit different production requirements.

The theatre opened in late 1983 with the production Skrattmänniskan, establishing itself as a venue for experimental performing arts in Stockholm. This founding moment began a lasting tradition of innovative theatre work.

International ensembles present productions that blend dance, projections, mechanical objects, and live music in experimental formats. These performances are shaped by the industrial setting, which becomes part of the artistic vision.

The ticket office opens about 30 minutes before performances and accepts Swish mobile payments and credit cards. Group bookings are available and should be arranged in advance.

The building's industrial heritage allows artists to integrate mechanical and structural elements directly into their performances. This architectural feature creates staging possibilities that conventional theatres cannot offer.
