Sveasalen, Movie theater in Norrmalm, Stockholm, Sweden
Sveasalen cinema occupied a section of Sparreska Palace, featuring a grand concert hall that accommodated 1,140 people with 600 light bulbs illuminating the space.
The theater opened in 1888 under builder Carl Oscar Lundberg and underwent reconstruction in 1901 following a fire that damaged the auditorium and stage in 1899.
The venue presented various performances, including concerts directed by Andreas Hallén and athletic displays by Bruno Liljefors and his brothers under the name Bröderna Manzondi.
Svenska Biografteatern established their first premier cinema, Röda Kvarn, within Sveasalen in January 1912, focusing on film presentations.
The concert hall displayed Moorish architectural elements, with ornate arcade arches and multiple tiers of lighting fixtures above and below the gallery.
