Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church

Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church is a parish church with five domes topped by golden crosses, located between Bleiweis Street and Prešeren Street near the Museum of Modern Art. The building combines Eastern architectural elements with functional spaces for worship and regular religious gatherings.

The church was built during the 1930s in Serbo-Byzantine Revival style under the direction of an architect and builder, reflecting the city's cultural development of that era. Its completion marked a period when new religious spaces were being established in the growing urban center.

The church displays frescoes and artwork created by the Serbian artistic community, marking the interior with religious symbolism and cultural memory. These artistic contributions reflect the presence of different communities in the city and their role in enriching local religious spaces.

The iconostasis holds icons painted by a Slovene artist in the 1940s and was crafted by a specialized workshop from a workshop region in the southern Balkans. This combination of local artistic input with regional craftsmanship makes the interior decoration particularly noteworthy.
