Wołowy Grzbiet

Ochsenrücken is a sharp mountain ridge in the High Tatras with steep slopes dropping away on either side. The formation runs through the northern section of this alpine range and creates a narrow, exposed traverse for experienced climbers.

The ridge formed during the Alpine mountain-building period when tectonic plates collided and shaped the Carpathian range. This geological process created one of the sharpest crests in the mountain chain.

Local mountain guides share knowledge of traditional navigation methods and weather patterns through generations, maintaining connections with the landscape.

Climbing experience and specialized equipment such as ropes and harnesses are needed to traverse this ridge. Marked trails provide access to different starting points along the formation.

The northern and southern sides of the ridge are composed of different rock types, resulting in varying climbing conditions throughout the seasons. This geological contrast makes each season a different experience for mountaineers.
