Surp Hagop Church

Surp Hagop Church is an Armenian Apostolic church in the Old Syriac quarter of Aleppo with a simple basilica structure throughout. The building features a single nave and a modest bell tower surrounded by an open courtyard.

The church was first blessed for construction in 1934 and built during the 1940s before being consecrated in 1943. A complete renovation took place during the late 1980s to restore and preserve the structure.

This church serves as a gathering place for Armenian worshippers in the city and hosts regular religious services throughout the year. It plays a central role in keeping Armenian spiritual traditions alive in the local community.

The church is located on Al-Iman street in the old city of Aleppo and can be visited by walking through the surrounding neighborhood. Visitors can view the building's exterior and explore the open courtyard at their own pace.

The building notably lacks a dome, which sets it apart from traditional Armenian church designs found elsewhere. This absence of a traditional dome gives the structure a distinctive appearance among Armenian places of worship.
