Samoeng

Samoeng is an administrative district in Chiang Mai province that sits in mountainous terrain at a significant elevation. The area divides into five sub-districts, with the main administrative center sharing the district's name.

The district began as a minor administrative division in 1902 and became a full district in 1908. It was reduced in status in 1938 but regained full district status in 1958.
