Samoeng

Samoeng district extends across 898 square kilometers of mountainous terrain at an elevation of 902 meters in northern Thailand's Chiang Mai province.

The district underwent multiple administrative changes, starting as a minor district in 1902, gaining full district status in 1908, reverting to minor status in 1938, and reinstating full district status in 1958.

The Royal Project Agricultural Station Pang Da conducts research on tropical fruit trees, flowers, beans, and medical cannabis, supporting local agricultural traditions.

The district divides into five sub-districts: Samoeng Tai, Samoeng Nuea, Mae Sap, Bo Kaeo, and Yang Moen, with the administrative center located in Samoeng.

During March and April, the air quality measurements in Samoeng reach extreme levels, with Air Quality Index scores exceeding 500 in specific locations.
