Suan Kulap palace, Royal palace in Dusit district, Thailand
Suan Kulap is a royal residence located in the Dusit Palace complex, comprising multiple residential buildings and landscaped gardens spread across the grounds. The compound includes various structures arranged to create separate functional and private areas within the larger estate.
King Chulalongkorn built this residence between 1897 and 1901 as an expansion of royal dwelling spaces away from the Grand Palace. The construction marked a new approach to royal residence development in Bangkok during the late 19th century.
The palace contains numerous ceremonial halls where the Thai royal family conducts traditional rituals and hosts formal events throughout the year.
This site is accessible by public transportation, including buses and the Bangkok Mass Transit System, though access to certain areas may be limited. Visitors should check beforehand which sections are open to the public and plan their visit accordingly.
The palace grounds include specialized sections for different royal family members, separated by gardens that create distinct private spaces within the complex.
