Bang Thao beach

Bang Thao is a long beach stretching along Phuket's western coast with white sand and coconut palms providing natural shade. The shoreline curves gently and separates calm waters from forested hills beyond.

The area served as a tin mining site until the 1970s before undergoing major transformation. This shift led to construction of resorts and leisure facilities that reshaped the entire coastline.

The place maintains its connection to Thai maritime traditions through the daily activities of local residents. Small temples dot the landscape and reflect the religious practices embedded in community life.

The northern section remains quieter and works better for families with children, while the southern part feels livelier. Water and leisure facilities concentrate on the southern stretch, keeping the north side more relaxed.

The beach hosts an annual international boat show where vessels are displayed in the curved bay. This event draws maritime enthusiasts from across the region.
