Kamala beach

Kamala Beach is a 2-kilometer stretch of sand on Phuket's western coast with clear waters and mountains in the background. The shoreline connects a traditional inland village with a modern coastal zone oriented toward visitors.

This location developed as a Muslim fishing village and was rebuilt following the devastating 2004 tsunami. The reconstruction shaped its current combination of surviving traditional elements and newer infrastructure.

The northern section retains traditional fishing practices while the southern area caters to tourism with restaurants and beach establishments. Visitors can observe this mix of local fishing traditions and tourist amenities as they walk along the shore.

The best swimming conditions occur from November through April, when the water is calm and visibility is good. Various vendors along the beach rent water sports equipment and provide other practical services for visitors.

The beach displays the contrast between the quiet fishing settlement inland and the bustling tourist zone on the coast. These two different worlds meet at the same location, creating a rare mix for visitors to observe.
