Phuket Thai Hua Museum, Chinese heritage museum in Phuket Town, Thailand.
The Phuket Thai Hua Museum is a museum in Phuket Town housed in a British colonial building from 1934. The mansion contains 16 exhibition rooms displaying historical documents, photographs, and objects from local and migration history.
The building was originally Phuket's first Chinese language school in 1917, known as Phuket Huabun School. It was later transformed into a cultural institution to preserve local history and heritage.
The museum shows how Chinese settlers shaped Phuket's trade, architecture, and schools. Their influence remains visible throughout the city, from buildings to local businesses.
The museum is located in town and open on most days. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and plan for about one to two hours to view all the rooms.
Each exhibition room focuses on a different topic, from tin mining to traditional cooking. This focused approach reveals how deeply the Chinese community was woven into different parts of local life.
