Siliana

Siliana is an administrative region in northern Tunisia featuring diverse terrain that includes fertile valleys, rocky plateaus, and forested hills. The landscape varies considerably across the area, creating different zones that support various forms of settlement and land use.

The region was established as an administrative province in 1974 following a reorganization of northern Tunisian territories. This administrative change helped organize the various communities and their development within the newly defined boundaries.

The governorate maintains ten distinct municipalities, each contributing to the regional identity through agricultural practices and local traditions.

Two water reservoirs supply essential resources to the communities throughout the region. These water sources are vital for agriculture and the daily needs of the population in the area.

The region contains three mountain peaks within the dorsal Atlas range, creating a natural corridor for the Oued Siliana river flowing northward.
