Djerba Zarzis Airport, airport in Tunisia
Djerba Zarzis Airport (also called Djerba Airport) is an airport on the Tunisian island of Djerba, about 21 kilometers from Midoun. The facility has a modern three-story terminal with shops selling perfume, crafts, and souvenirs, plus cafes, restaurants, ATMs, and a post office.
The airport opened in 1970 to bring tourists directly from Europe to the island. In 2007, it underwent major modernization with expansion of the terminal to handle increasing numbers of travelers.
The airport's name connects the two main centers of the island: Djerba and Zarzis. The terminal building displays white walls, arches, and blue accents that reflect traditional island architecture and help travelers feel at home from the moment they land.
A single terminal makes navigation simple, with clear signs directing you to customs, baggage claim, and exits. Arrive at least two to three hours before international flights, use online check-in, and keep travel documents ready.
The airport sits only about 19 feet (6 meters) above sea level, offering scenic views of the coastline as you arrive or depart. This low elevation allows aircraft to land and take off easily, even in challenging weather conditions.
