Bingöl

The city spreads across a high plateau at 1153 meters elevation, surrounded by mountains reaching heights of 3000 meters near the Göniksuyu River.

The area changed hands from Assyrian to Byzantine control, becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in the early 16th century through military campaigns.

The population includes numerous Kurdish inhabitants who maintain their traditions through local markets, food preparation, and social gatherings.

The construction of Bingöl Airport in 2013 improved transportation access, serving up to 500,000 passengers each year with regular flights.

A natural floating island exists in a small lake at Hazersah village near Solhan, moving across 300 square meters of water surface.
