Gerendal Lake

Gerendal Lake is a natural body of water located on the Şabanköy Plateau in Bingöl Province at an elevation of 2,371 meters (7,779 feet). The lake has a distinctive heart shape and maintains consistent water levels throughout all seasons.

The lake takes its name from the Zazaki word 'Gerunek', which describes a water whirlpool formation in the regional dialect. This linguistic origin reflects the historical connection between the local population and the natural phenomena of the landscape.
