Bingöl Province, Administrative province in eastern Turkey
Bingöl Province extends over 8,003 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, containing numerous small lakes and the Gayt River flowing through its territory.
The province, formerly known as Çapakçur until 1945, became an independent administrative division in 1936 after belonging to Elazığ and Muş provinces.
Languages spoken across Bingöl Province include Turkish in all regions, with Zaza predominant in southern areas and Kurmanji in northern districts.
Eight administrative districts form Bingöl Province: Adaklı, Bingöl, Genç, Karlıova, Kiğı, Solhan, Yayladere, and Yedisu, with Bingöl city as capital.
The province experiences continental climate patterns with temperature variations from minus 30 degrees in winter to plus 40 degrees during summer months.
