Solhan is an administrative district in Bingöl Province that spans varied terrain with the Şerafettin Mountains in the north and lower valleys to the south. The territory contains a town center serving as the administrative hub and numerous smaller settlements scattered throughout the landscape.
The district was established in 1932 as part of administrative reorganization in the region. Prior to this, the area had been inhabited by Armenian communities who left behind a church dedicated to St. Sargis.
The district encompasses twenty-seven villages and eighty hamlets, where residents speak multiple languages including Turkish, Kurdish, and Zazaki.
Visitors can easily access the administrative center located in the town core where main services are found. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions for exploring the region due to milder weather patterns.
The region experiences a dry-summer continental climate with temperature variations from 0.1°C in January to 33.4°C in August, receiving maximum rainfall in April.
