Silvan Dam

Silvan Dam is a large embankment structure built across the Batman River in southeastern Turkey. The dam uses concrete-faced rock-fill construction and extends across 440 meters to hold back water for power generation and irrigation.

Construction began in 2011 as part of a major regional development initiative in southeastern Turkey. The project represents a step in modern infrastructure growth for the area.

The dam construction has influenced local agricultural practices and economic activities in the surrounding communities of Diyarbakır Province.

The dam is still under construction, so visitors should check access and safety rules before visiting the area. The location sits in a rolling, dry landscape with open viewpoints nearby for observing the project.

The reservoir created by the dam will cover 178 square kilometers, supporting irrigation for 245,000 hectares of agricultural land in the region.
