The wooden structure of Ertuğrul Tekke Mosque incorporates both classical Ottoman and Art Nouveau design elements throughout its construction and decorative features.
Sultan Abdul Hamid II ordered the construction of this mosque in 1887, dedicating it to Sheikh Hamza Zafir, founder of the Medeni branch of Shadhili tariqa.
The mosque forms part of a külliye complex that includes a guesthouse, tomb, fountain, and library, representing traditional Ottoman religious architectural planning.
The religious complex underwent extensive restoration between 2008 and 2010, reopening to visitors with updated facilities under President Abdullah Gül's administration.
Italian architect Raimondo D'Aronco added the türbe section between 1905 and 1906, introducing Art Nouveau elements to the traditional Ottoman structure.
