Ertuğrul Tekke Mosque

Ertuğrul Tekke Mosque is a wooden structure from the 19th century that blends classical Ottoman architecture with Art Nouveau design elements. The interior shows a mix of traditional prayer halls, decorative details, and modern design principles from that period.

In the 1880s, a sultan ordered the construction and dedicated the building to a Sufi leader. Shortly after 1900, a European architect worked to integrate new style elements into the traditional structure.

The mosque is part of a larger complex with guesthouses, a tomb, and other spaces that show how Ottoman religious centers served the community beyond prayer. Visitors can experience how these places functioned as gathering points for everyday life and worship.

The site underwent major renovation in the early 2000s and reopened with updated facilities. Visitors should wear respectful clothing and plan around active prayer times when exploring the interior.

An Italian designer added a new tomb section in the early 1900s, blending Western and Eastern architectural styles. This unusual combination makes the building a rare example of cultural mixing in Istanbul.
