Epiphania, Cilicia, Archaeological site in Erzin, Turkey.
The ruins of Epiphania contain remains of walls, a temple, an acropolis, and numerous houses constructed from basalt stone near the Gulf of Iskenderun.
Originally named Oeniandos, the settlement was renamed Epiphania in the second century BC to honor King Antiochus IV Epiphanes of Syria.
The archaeological site preserves structures from multiple civilizations, including residential areas, public buildings, and religious structures from Greek, Roman, and Byzantine periods.
The archaeological site is accessible from the town of Erzin and is situated along the historical route connecting the ancient cities of Missis and Antioch.
In 66 BC, Roman general Pompey selected Epiphania as a settlement location for Mediterranean pirates who had surrendered during his campaign.
