Merkez Park, Urban riverside park in Adana, Turkey.
Merkez Park is a large urban green space that spans both banks of the Seyhan River, stretching from Sabancı Mosque to Galleria Shopping Mall. Walking and cycling paths wind through landscaped grounds, connecting different sections and creating multiple routes for visitors to explore.
The park was created in the 2000s after the Central Bus Terminal was relocated and former citrus orchards and residential areas were transformed. This redevelopment allowed the city to build a new public green space system.
The amphitheater at the northern end serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience live concerts and outdoor screenings together. The park's layout shows how the city has created spaces for people to spend time together and enjoy public entertainment.
The park is easy to navigate on foot and paths accommodate different activity levels from leisurely walks to cycling. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and seek shade during hot weather, as the open areas offer limited shelter from the sun.
The grounds contain more than 60 different tree species and numerous cactus varieties scattered throughout the space. Animal-shaped topiary figures add a playful element that surprises visitors as they walk through the different sections.
