Sculpture of Barbarossa, Bronze monument in Beşiktaş, Turkey.
The bronze sculpture rises 11.5 meters high at the Beşiktaş coastline, facing the Naval Museum and depicting the Ottoman admiral Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha.
The monument, inaugurated in 1944 by İsmet İnönü, represents Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, who expanded Ottoman naval power across the Mediterranean in the 16th century.
The stone base includes verses from Yahya Kemal Beyatlı's poem Bayram Sabahı, connecting the sculpture to Turkish maritime literary traditions.
The monument stands near multiple transportation options in Beşiktaş, with the best photography conditions occurring during morning or late afternoon hours.
The bronze figure weighs 6.9 tons and was crafted by artists Yusuf Akpınar and Ali Haydar Seymen at a cost of 52,000 lira in 1944.
