Construction took place between 1565 and 1573 under the architect Mimar Sinan's direction. The patron was Piyale Pasha, a high-ranking official who held significant power in the Ottoman administration.
The walls feature Iznik tiles with white script on deep blue backgrounds, reflecting Ottoman artistic traditions. These decorations shape the interior's appearance and show the craftsmanship valued during that period.
