Galatasaray Museum, Sports museum in Beyoğlu district, Istanbul, Turkey
Galatasaray Museum occupies a former post office building in Beyoğlu district and displays items from over 150 years of club history in football, basketball, and other sports. The three halls spread across multiple floors and present trophies, signed balls, medals, and framed photographs of historical moments.
The sports club emerged in the 19th century as part of the school of the same name, which was founded during Ottoman reforms. The collection moved several times before reaching its current location in a renovated building near Galatasaray High School.
The permanent exhibition honors the football team that became the first Turkish side to qualify for European competitions and maintains close ties to the local community. Visitors see original jerseys worn by famous players and flags that supporters waved at important matches.
The rooms lie on İstiklal shopping street and open daily except Mondays from 10 AM to 7 PM, with no admission charge. An elevator leads to all exhibition areas, allowing wheelchair users to reach the collection comfortably.
Part of the trophy collection is split between this location and the newer stadium museum, so visitors need to check both places to see the full collection. The selection displayed here focuses on the early decades of the club and rare memorabilia from the era before modern sports facilities were built.
