Ağa hamamı, Traditional hammam in Beyoğlu, Turkey
The Ağa Hamamı structure contains two residential floors situated above the main bathing area, featuring traditional Ottoman architectural elements throughout the building.
Sultan Mehmed II constructed this hammam in 1454 as a private bathing facility, which later underwent substantial renovations under Sultan Abdülmecid I in 1844.
The bathhouse maintains traditional Turkish bathing practices, offering services such as body scrubbing, foam washing, and oil massages in separate sections.
The entrance fee is 1300 Turkish Lira, with additional services like scrubbing and foam bath available for 650 Turkish Lira each.
The building initially served as a hunting lodge for Ottoman sultans before its transformation into a bathhouse, as Beyoğlu district was unpopulated in the 15th century.
