Arter, Contemporary art museum in Dolapdere district, Istanbul, Turkey.
Arter is a contemporary art museum with six floors in Dolapdere, Istanbul. The building features glass-fiber mosaic facades, multiple exhibition spaces, performance halls, a library, and large windows that frame views of the city.
The museum opened in 2019 after relocating from its earlier location in Meymenet Han on Istiklal Street, where it operated from 2010 to 2018. The move marked a new chapter and allowed for an expanded range of programs.
The museum displays works from more than 400 artists across Turkish and international scenes. The exhibitions rotate regularly and present both established and emerging artistic voices.
The museum offers free shuttle service from Taksim metro station to help visitors arrive easily. Two performance venues operate within the building: the Karbon theatre and the Sevgi Gönül Auditorium for various events.
The entrance hall with triple height functions as a public passage between Dolapdere street and a neighboring park. Visitors can use the building as a pedestrian shortcut through the neighborhood, making it more than just a museum.
