Kızılada Feneri, Ottoman lighthouse on Kızılada Island, Turkey
Kızılada Feneri is a lighthouse on an island in the Gulf of Fethiye, featuring a white cylindrical masonry tower with red horizontal stripes. The tower stands about 13 meters tall and includes a single-story keeper's residence built into its base.
French engineers built this navigation aid in 1910 to guide ships safely through the waters of the Gulf of Fethiye. Its construction was a response to the maritime hazards that affected vessel traffic in this region.
The lighthouse keeper Mustafa Pehlivan is remembered locally for rescuing survivors from an aircraft accident near the island in 1953. His story remains part of what visitors learn when they visit this location today.
The lighthouse beam is visible from a considerable distance and helps guide vessels on the water. Visitors can reach the island by boat from the nearby shores of the peninsula.
Since 2007, the lighthouse complex has been developed to include a seafood restaurant and a small guesthouse operated by a local company. This transformation changed the site from a purely functional navigation point into a place where visitors can dine and stay overnight.
