Veterinary Anatomy Museum, Museu em Ancara, Turquia
The Veterinary Anatomy Museum is a collection of animal bodies and body parts housed in the Veterinary Faculty of Ankara University. The displays show bones, muscles, and organs from various animal species arranged to help visitors understand the internal structure of animals.
The collection began in 1933 within the university's research department when scientists started gathering animal bone, muscle, and organ samples for study. The museum formally opened in 2013 after the university decided to preserve and publicly display the specimens that had been accumulated over decades.
The museum is located in the Veterinary Faculty building in central Ankara and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors can walk through the exhibits at their own pace, and the friendly staff is happy to provide explanations.
The museum uses plastination, a modern technique that preserves animal specimens and makes them durable and easy to handle, allowing visitors to see anatomical details clearly. Staff members learned this method abroad and apply it in a dedicated laboratory on site.
