Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station, Metro interchange station in Zhongzheng District, Taiwan

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station is an underground interchange in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, connecting the Tamsui-Xinyi and Songshan-Xindian lines across two platform levels. Seven exits lead out to Roosevelt Road, government buildings, and the grounds of the nearby memorial complex.

The station opened in 1998 as part of a major expansion of the Taipei Metro, linking two key lines through the center of the city. It quickly became one of the busiest transfer points in the Zhongzheng District.

The station displays art installations with holographic projections of paper plane paths and glowing cloud images along the walls. Passengers moving between the two platform levels pass by these works naturally as part of their transfer.

The station has seven exits pointing in different directions, so it helps to check the signs before leaving the platform area. The transfer between the two lines is straightforward since the platforms are stacked on top of each other.

Despite past discussions about renaming it, the station kept its original name, making it a rare case in Taipei where such debates led to no change. The name itself has quietly become a reference point in how the city handles civic conversations about public space.
