Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages is a language university in Sanmin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, focused entirely on foreign language training. The campus features computer rooms with language software, libraries holding international publications, and spaces for cultural events open to students from different countries.
The school opened in 1966 as Wenzao Ursuline Junior College of Modern Languages, admitting only women at first. In 1980 male students began enrolling, and the school later gained full university status.
The university takes its name from Wenzao, honoring Bishop Vincenzo Capozzi, an Italian missionary who served in Taiwan during the 19th century. The campus houses a small chapel where regular services take place and visitors are welcome to step inside.
The campus sits in Sanmin District, a quiet residential area north of downtown Kaohsiung, and is reachable by public transport. Visitors should check in advance whether access to certain areas is allowed, as some buildings remain restricted to students and staff.
This institution is the only university in Taiwan devoted exclusively to language training, offering programs from associate degrees through master level. The International Affairs department conducts over 90 percent of its courses in English, opening doors for students toward international careers.
