Yanchao District, Administrative district in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
Yanchao District is an administrative division in Kaohsiung that encompasses both urban neighborhoods and agricultural zones throughout its territory. The area blends residential communities with farming regions within the city's municipal boundaries.
The territory changed from Japanese to Chinese control in 1945 and gradually transformed from a rural community into an urban district. Its formal integration into Kaohsiung as a modern administrative division occurred in 2010.
Several temples including Guanshui Temple and Jiaosu Mazu Temple serve as gathering places where residents practice traditional Taiwanese religious rituals and ceremonies. These sacred sites remain central to community life and local spiritual traditions.
The district is accessible via Freeways 1, 3, and 10, Provincial Highway 22, and City Route 186, providing direct connections to central Kaohsiung and surrounding areas. These roads make it easy to travel in and out of the region.
Four major universities are located here, including National Kaohsiung Normal University and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. These institutions have made the area a significant educational hub within the region.
