Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, scenic spot in Tamsui, New Taipei, Taiwan.
Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf is a working harbor on the northern coast of Taiwan, where the Tamsui River meets the sea, with floating docks that rise and fall with the tides. A white arched bridge known as Lover's Bridge connects the two sides of the harbor and is the most visible structure on the waterfront.
The harbor grew from a simple fishing area into a trading and supply point for sailors traveling along the Tamsui River. Over time, walkways, markets, and facilities were added to meet the needs of fishermen and the growing coastal community.
The name of the wharf points directly to the fishing tradition that has shaped this part of Tamsui for generations. Along the wooden walkways, visitors can still see fishing boats mooring and small stalls selling fresh catch from the water.
The wharf is reachable on foot or by bike from Tamsui MRT station along the riverside path. The area is open and exposed to wind, so bringing a light jacket is a good idea, especially later in the afternoon.
The building next to the harbor, called Lover's Tower, was designed to look like a cruise ship from the outside. At the top sits a red heart sculpture called 'Love in Tamsui' that lights up after dark, drawing couples to the spot at night.
