Dapu Reservoir
Dapu Reservoir, also known as Emei Lake, is a large body of water in the southern part of Hsinchu County surrounded by green hills and trees. The shoreline features a level walking loop of about 6.7 miles with gentle terrain and access to the Emei Bridge for viewing the water and landscape.
The reservoir was built many years ago to manage water supplies for nearby communities and support agricultural needs. Over time, it evolved from a pure irrigation facility into a popular destination for recreation and nature enjoyment.
The name Emei Lake comes from the curved shape of the surrounding land, which locals once compared to an eyebrow. This name remains deeply rooted in the community and is widely used by residents today.
The area is open all day for visits at any time, making spontaneous outings convenient for travelers. Bring enough water and snacks since there are no shops or cafes right at the reservoir, though parking and restrooms are available nearby.
