承天禪寺, Buddhist temple in Tucheng, Taiwan
Cheng Tian Zen Temple stands on a mountain ridge overlooking the Taipei Basin, with Mount Qingyuan to the left and Elephant Nose Mountain to the right. The structure integrates into the landscape through its placement, creating multiple levels for religious and daily activities.
The temple was founded in 1955 by Master Guangqin, who arrived from Fujian province and established it after receiving many requests from devotees. This early establishment shaped its role as an important spiritual site in the Tucheng region.
The temple maintains traditional Buddhist practices and draws local worshippers and visitors who observe spiritual activities in the meditation halls. The spaces show how this place serves as a center for community spiritual life.
Visitors can reach the temple by taking public transportation to Tucheng district and following the stone path leading to the entrance. The trail is well-marked and the walk offers views of the surrounding area.
In spring, white tung tree flowers bloom across the temple grounds, while the surrounding area preserves native forest species. This natural setting provides a contrast to the nearby urban landscape and creates a retreat within the densely populated region.
