Tienlun Dam

Tienlun Dam is a gravity dam that crosses the Dajia River in mountainous terrain, creating a concrete barrier between rocky slopes. The structure sits nestled in a valley where the river cuts through the hills of Heping District.

This dam was completed in 1956 as part of Taiwan's effort to rebuild infrastructure following the war. It represented the beginning of the region's modern hydroelectric power system.

The dam's name, written as 天輪壩 in traditional Chinese characters, reflects the local naming conventions while indicating its purpose as a water management structure.

The location sits in a mountainous area reachable by walking paths that lead to viewing points. Wear comfortable shoes for the sloped terrain, and allow extra time for the hilly walk.

This dam is one of four hydroelectric facilities that work together along the Dajia River system. It sits between two other dams, making it part of a larger power network that keeps the region supplied.
