Qingshan Dam, Gravity dam in Heping District, Taiwan
The Qingshan Dam spans 100 meters across the Dajia River, featuring four turbines that generate electricity for the surrounding region of Taichung.
Construction of the Qingshan Dam took place between 1964 and 1970, marking a period of substantial infrastructure development in Taiwan's water management system.
The Qingshan Dam represents an engineering achievement that transformed the local relationship with water resources and energy production in the Heping District.
The dam maintains a reservoir capacity of 600,000 cubic meters, providing essential flood control and water supply management for communities in central Taiwan.
Each of the four turbines at Qingshan Dam produces 90 megawatts, resulting in an annual electricity generation of 591 million kilowatt hours.
