小港漁港, Fishing port in Chenggong Township, Taiwan
Xiaogang is a fishing port in Chenggong Township on Taiwan's east coast, where local fishermen dock daily and sell their catch. The facility accommodates dozens of fishing boats and features a fish market along with basic infrastructure for port operations.
The harbor was originally known as Xunguang'ao and received its current name Xiaogang in the 1930s as administrative control in the region changed. This renaming marked an important phase in the development of local commerce and fishing activities.
The port represents a meeting point between indigenous Taiwanese and Han Chinese traders, who established commercial relations during the late Ming Dynasty.
The port is most active in early morning when fishing boats arrive and depart and market activity is at its peak. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for wet or slippery surfaces that are typical of harbor areas.
Recordings of natural sounds at the port, including tide movements and bird songs, were documented on September 8, 2014, preserving its acoustic environment.
