Amis Folk Center

Amis Folk Center is a cultural center in Chenggong showcasing Taiwan's largest indigenous community. It displays traditional clothing, crafts, and musical instruments that represent the skills and daily life of the Amis people.

The center was established in 1995 as a significant step in preserving and documenting the heritage of the Amis people. This founding allowed their knowledge and traditions to be safeguarded for future generations.

The center hosts traditional Amis performances featuring bamboo instruments, nose flutes, and ceremonial dances during regular events. You can watch performers demonstrate how these artistic traditions continue to be practiced in daily and festive contexts.

The traditional houses displayed at the center demonstrate thatch roof construction methods that require complete renewal every few years. This building technique is a key part of the craftsmanship knowledge that visitors can learn through observing the structures.
