Jiaoxi St. Joseph Church, Catholic church in Jiaoxi, Taiwan
The modern Jiaoxi St. Joseph Church features four cubic elements supporting the main hall, creating an elevated structure with pedestrian access underneath the building.
Completed in 2019 by AMBi Studio under architect Wei-Li Liao's direction, the church spans 659 square meters and represents a new chapter in religious architecture.
The interior main hall incorporates timber construction forming an egg-shaped space that symbolizes motherhood, while seven roof ventilators reference biblical creation.
The church serves the Catholic community with regular masses and maintains temperature control through its architectural design featuring natural ventilation systems.
Natural light enters through carefully positioned grilles throughout the structure, creating patterns similar to sunlight filtering through forest canopies.
