Former Pattsiran Public School Lecture Hall

The Former Pattsiran Public School Lecture Hall is a school building in Shilin with wooden beams, sliding doors, and an elevated foundation. The interior spaces are spacious and show the construction methods of that period.

It was built in 1895 and was one of the first public school buildings in northern Taiwan. The structure marks the start of modern schooling in the region.

The building shows how schools changed Taipei and brings together local building methods with modern teaching spaces. When you visit, you can see how the wooden structure and open rooms shaped learning in that era.

The building stands near Jiantan Station and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors can pass by regularly and view the exterior and some interior spaces.

The building still has its original wooden floors and window frames from the 19th century. It is one of the few school buildings from that time that remain in this form.
